John, the use of the blog is an active way to connect ideas through webbing. I see how this notion of connectivism could be beneficial for adult learners who have vast personal experience, sporadic empirical experiences, and an emotional component to learning where these ideas collide and connect. Traditionally, we have lived in a world where the tools catered to the linear thinkers, outliners, and narrators.

That's a new one on me. I have Firefox running on both WinXP and Mac OS 10.4 and have not yet come upon an issue that affects my screen. I do know that there are sites out there that can affect your computer that way - a script is embedded that plays with the window itself. A few of my HelpDesk crew have played that prank on one another. Have you run a full A/V and spyware scan? We typically use both AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy in tandem to clean student computers on our campus.

I have this strange issue in Firefox (latest version). The window keeps on shaking up and down very quickly. I know it's a strange thing but it happens to me. I've tried re-installing but it's still there. It even occured when I installed an earlier version of Firefox.

So I had to go back to IE.

Any ideas as to what this is?

Its important to note that MediaWiki is PHP/MySQL based just like TikiWiki. I believe you stated when we spoke in person that it was mis-information that excluded it from the reviewal process.

Anyhow, I would interested to see a followup post since the Wiki's deployment on how it has affected the support at the help desk. Are our users finding it helpful? Is the helpdesk finding it useful? Perhaps it is too soon to tell, but I suspect that it gained use during startup week!

I would also be interested in the comparison between a fully open wiki with that of the closed wiki we currently have. But, as you stated: Time is required to due such a comparison...and time is scarce around here :)

Great post -- so cool when kids help us see this things in simpler, clearer ways.

With Lego, the main limitations are the total number of blocks and the types available. In an era when information is nearly limitless, what are the limitations as we build knowledge? Time? Attention?
